Careers at Forge & Flight
We build the aircraft, train the operators, and develop the software that keeps DoD and federal customers effective in the field. If you do serious work and want to be somewhere it shows, read on.
Open Positions
Active openings available for immediate application. All positions are with Forge & Flight Holdings, Inc. or its subsidiaries. Federal Services Division positions are subcontract roles contingent on contract award — applying now places you in the pipeline.
The Opportunity
Forge & Flight builds production-ready unmanned aircraft systems and trains the people who fly them. Our platforms are deployed with operational customers, our Academy has active courses running, and our Forge Flex service program is contracting. We need commission-driven sales professionals to help us reach more buyers faster.
This is a ground-floor opportunity with a company that has real products, real traction, and leadership that picks up the phone. The sales cycles are long, the buyers are sophisticated, and deals do not close themselves. If you are a self-directed closer who wants uncapped upside on high-value transactions, keep reading.
What You're Selling
The full Forge & Flight portfolio — platforms, training, and services — to DoD units, federal agencies, defense primes, state and municipal emergency response, and commercial operators.
- Platforms — Group 1 through Group 3 NDAA-compliant fixed-wing and VTOL unmanned aircraft systems
- Training — Ten FAA and DoD-aligned UAS certification courses through Forge & Flight Academy, per-student and equipped cohort delivery
- Services — Forge Flex, a pre-funded annual manufacturing and procurement retainer for NDAA-compliant fabrication, rapid prototyping, and engineering support
Full product training is provided before you engage any customer. You will not go into a sales conversation without everything you need.
Who We're Looking For
We do not require a specific industry background. The right person knows how to build a pipeline from zero, manage a long cycle, and close deals where the buyer has to justify the expenditure internally. Defense BD, fire service equipment, utilities, capital equipment, commercial aviation — if you sell to institutional buyers, we want to talk.
Required
- U.S. person — citizen or permanent resident (export control compliance)
- Verifiable track record closing deals above $50,000 with institutional buyers
- Self-directed — you build your own pipeline
- Professional representation — our buyers vet their vendors carefully
Not a fit if you
- Need a base salary to ramp
- Expect leads handed to you
- Are under an active non-compete that restricts this activity
Compensation Structure
Commission-only 1099 independent contractor position. No base salary. No ceiling. Forge & Flight uses a tiered commission structure calibrated to deal size — full rate on transactions you close independently, scaled rates on enterprise deals where company leadership co-sells.
What the tiers mean in practice: single-platform deals and standard training cohorts pay at the full rate. Multi-unit fleet replacements and large institutional programs pay at declining rates that still represent material income at any realistic deal size. You see the complete rate schedule, with worked examples, before you sign anything.
- Commission earned on customer deposit receipt — paid when the deal closes
- Monthly statements with deal-level detail via the company CRM
- Payment within 10 business days of statement date
- No withholding — you manage your own taxes as an independent business
- Government and direct-to-DoD contract commission is outside scope per FAR 52.203-5 — explained clearly before you engage any government buyer
What We Provide
- Product familiarization resources — capability briefs, tech sheets, and sales tools available to use at your discretion
- Proposal generation — you submit a request, leadership produces the proposal, you deliver it
- A purpose-built CRM with your pipeline and commission tracking
- Direct access to company leadership for deal strategy and customer calls
- IC Agreement and mutual NDA executed before any pricing or proprietary information is shared
How to Apply
Email [email protected] — subject line: Sales Rep Application
Include: (1) your sales background in 2–3 sentences, (2) your best single close — deal size, obstacle, and how you closed it, (3) why the UAS or defense space is relevant to you right now. Resume optional in the application — required before any offer. No phone calls before email. No recruiters. We respond to every qualifying application within five business days.
Position Summary
Forge & Flight is scaling across multiple business lines — UAS manufacturing, professional training, and government services — with employees in multiple states and a Federal Services Division operating under Service Contract Act wage determinations. This role owns the HR function for all of it. You will manage the full employment lifecycle from offer through separation, administer benefits, ensure SCA compliance on government services contracts, handle employee relations, and partner with outside counsel and the CPA on employment compliance. This is a hands-on role — there is no HR team under you. You are the HR department.
Key Responsibilities
- Own full-cycle recruiting across all Holdings entities — job postings, applicant screening, interview coordination, background checks, and offer letter generation
- Manage onboarding for all new W-2 employees — I-9 verification, benefits enrollment, system access, orientation, and 30/60/90-day check-ins
- Administer employee benefits programs — health, dental, vision, PTO, and additional benefits as the company scales
- Maintain and update the employee handbook, HR policies, and employment documentation in compliance with North Carolina law and applicable federal regulations
- Manage SCA compliance for Federal Services Division positions — track applicable wage determinations by location, ensure salary floors are met, maintain H&W fringe benefit records, and coordinate with contracts staff on SCA documentation requirements
- Administer multi-state employment compliance across NC, SC, WI, NJ, CA, MA, and HI as Federal Services positions are staffed
- Serve as the primary employee relations resource — address workplace concerns, manage performance documentation, and support managers through disciplinary processes
- Maintain personnel files, HR records, and employment documentation in compliance with recordkeeping requirements
- Coordinate with outside legal counsel and CPA on employment law questions, classification matters, and compliance reviews
- Support security clearance processing coordination for Federal Services Division candidates
- Manage separation procedures — offboarding, COBRA notifications, final pay compliance, and exit documentation
Required
- 3+ years of HR generalist experience with demonstrated responsibility across recruiting, onboarding, benefits, and employee relations — not a single-function HR background
- Working knowledge of FLSA, FMLA, Title VII, and North Carolina employment law
- Organized and detail-oriented — HR compliance is a documentation discipline; missed deadlines or incomplete files create real liability
- Discretion — this role handles compensation, performance, and personnel matters for the entire organization
- Proficiency in HR software and applicant tracking systems
- Willing to complete a comprehensive background check prior to offer
- U.S. person required
Preferred
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification
- Experience at a defense contractor or federal government services firm — familiarity with SCA, cleared personnel processing, and multi-state employment compliance in a contracting context
- Multi-state HR experience — particularly CA, NJ, HI, or MA, which have employment law requirements that exceed federal minimums
- Experience with security clearance coordination or cleared personnel onboarding
- Background in a small company or startup environment — you will build processes, not just follow them
How to Apply
Email [email protected] — subject line: Human Resources Manager
Include your resume and a brief description of your HR scope — specifically your experience with multi-state employment, SCA or government contractor HR, and the size of the workforce you have supported. Comprehensive background check required prior to offer.

Quality Control Inspector — UAS Production
Forge & Flight Labs LLC · Fayetteville, NC
Owns airworthiness inspection and production documentation independent of the build team. Signs off every aircraft before customer delivery. Reviews composite structures, avionics integration, wiring, and systems functionality against engineering specifications. The last line of defense before a platform ships.
The Role
As platform production scales, the inspection function must be independent of the build team. This role owns that independence. You inspect every aircraft at defined checkpoints — composite structure, avionics installation, wiring, systems integration, and pre-delivery functional verification — against engineering drawings and acceptance criteria. You document findings, drive rework to closure, and sign off airworthiness before any platform ships to a customer. You report to the Engineering lead, not to manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-process and final inspections of UAS airframes at defined production checkpoints
- Inspect composite structures for dimensional accuracy, surface quality, delamination, and build conformance
- Inspect avionics installations, wiring harnesses, connectors, and power systems against engineering drawings and work orders
- Conduct functional systems verification — pre-flight systems checks, sensor calibration confirmation, and flight controller configuration review
- Document all inspection findings — non-conformances, rework disposition, and final acceptance sign-off
- Maintain production quality records for each aircraft serial number through delivery
- Work with engineering to develop and refine inspection criteria as new platform configurations are introduced
- Flag systemic production issues and drive root cause analysis in coordination with the build team
Required
- Demonstrated inspection or quality assurance experience on complex electromechanical systems — aerospace, military avionics, industrial equipment, or comparable
- Ability to read and work from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly specifications
- Comfort with precision measurement tools and documentation discipline
- Independent judgment — you do not defer to production pressure; a discrepancy is a discrepancy until it is resolved
- U.S. person required (export control compliance)
Advantages
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate or Inspection Authorization (IA)
- Military aviation quality assurance background — 15 series, aviation MOS QC, or depot-level inspection experience
- IPC-A-610 or composite inspection certification
- UAS or sUAS production inspection experience
- Familiarity with AS9100 or equivalent aerospace quality management frameworks

- Monitor SAM.gov solicitation pipeline for opportunities matching company capabilities; flag relevant postings to leadership
Required
- Experience in government contracts administration, program coordination, or a comparable role in a defense or federal contracting environment
- Working familiarity with FAR/DFARS — contract types, standard clauses, and compliance requirements at an operational level
